The first season of The Geo Team, created by Geo G., originally aired on The Greeny Channel in the United States. The series began on July 14, 1991 with the episode "The Fun Begins" and the ended on April 29, 1992 with the episode "Geo Guy Balloon".

The series was conceived by Geo in 1989 after the original run of Geo's World for the American Broadcasting Company. The Geo Team first appeared in the original unaired pilot in 1990. The latter became one of the first Internet viral videos, which ultimately led to its production as a series. On June 7, 1990, Geo and Universal Television inked a deal. The pilot was named The Geo Team in June 1990, when it appeared on the primetime slate for the 1990–91 television season, although it wasn't officially on the network schedule. In January 1991, The Geo Team appeared on the primetime slate for the 1991–92 television season. On March 18, 1991, it was announced that The Geo Team would premiere on July 14, 1991.

The complete season DVD was released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment on November 28, 2004, and featured all nineteen episodes and an assortment of bonus features. The series is rated TV-PG.

Development[]

Geo G. initially conceived The Geo Team in 1989 after Geo's World came out.

The Geo Team first appeared in the development slate by The Greeny Channel in early 1990, under no official name for the pilot, after a report that The Greeny Channel had purchased the series from creators. On June 7, 1990, Geo and Universal Television inked a deal. The pilot was named The Geo Team in June 1990, when it appeared on the primetime slate for the 1990–91 television season, although it wasn't officially on the network schedule. In January 1991, The Geo Team appeared on the primetime slate for the 1991–92 television season. On March 18, 1991, it was announced that The Geo Team would premiere on July 14, 1991.

Geo pitched a 22-minute pilot to The Greeny Channel which aired on July 14, 1991.

This seasons animation was made by Klasky-Csupo, with the animation outsourced to Searom, Wang Film Productions, TMS Entertainment, AKOM, Rough Draft Studios, Sunwoo Entertainment, Anivision and Plus One Animation.

While in Geoville, Geo Guy hears news that a villain moved into town. He goes to check, and sees a house that is pretty dark. He goes inside and sees Gree Guy, and now they start a conflict. Geo Guy decides to create his own team, The Geo Team. Geo Guy, Green Bob, Little Guy, Homer Simpson, Crash Bandicoot, Eric Cartman, Geo, Jan Soto, Jason, Bloo, The Once-ler, Coraline Jones, Margo Gru, Toon Link and Dave recruit members, and start their first battle.

DVD release[]

The DVD boxset for season one was released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment on November 28, 2004. Other than all nineteen episodes of the season, the DVD included several bonus features, including interviews with the cast and crew, animatics, an animation gallery, commentary tracks on ten episodes, and two short films created by Geo G.
